The 30-Second Pitch

Pig Derby is a free browser-based pig racing game with two ways to play. Tournament Mode is a hot-seat multiplayer party game — you and your friends take turns placing bets on a roster of racing pigs and watch the championship unfold. Adventure Mode is a single-player career — you build a stable of racing pigs, breed champions, and climb the racing league over multiple seasons.

Tournament Mode — Step by Step

1Configure the Tournament

From the main menu, pick Tournament Mode. Choose the number of players (each player needs a name), the starting cash for each player, and the number of races in the tournament.

2Study the Racing Pigs

Before each race, the roster of pigs is shown with their six core stats — acceleration, top speed, stamina, strength, cornering, nerve — plus their special trait, recent form, and the current weather. Every race is two laps on the same track, so it's the combination of stats, traits, and weather that decides who wins, not race distance.

3Place Your Bets

Players take turns at the same device, placing bets on which pig they think will win. Pigs with worse odds pay out more if they win. Bet small on favorites for safety, or big on underdogs for glory.

4Watch the Race

The race plays out in real-time pixel art. Pigs surge, slow down, find second winds. Each race takes 30-60 seconds.

5Collect Winnings & Repeat

Whoever has the most cash after all races wins the tournament. Drama, upsets, and beast-mode runs are guaranteed.

Adventure Mode — Step by Step

1Found Your Stable

Name your stable and pick your founding racing pig from a roster of starter pigs. This pig is the founder of your bloodline.

2Enter Races to Earn Cash

Enter your pigs in scheduled races. Prize money funds new pigs, training, and the breeding center. Higher-tier races pay more but require better pigs.

3Recruit & Train

Use Practice Sessions to learn each pig's strengths. Buy promising pigs at the Swine Auction. Some pigs are late bloomers — patience pays.

4Breed Champions

The Breeding Center is where the long game lives. Cross two pigs to produce piglets that inherit stats from both parents. Over generations, you can engineer elite racers far stronger than any starter.

5Don't Go Bankrupt

Pigs cost money to keep. Race entries cost money. If you can't pay, your stable goes under. Managing cash flow is as important as winning races.

The Six Pig Stats

Every racing pig in Pig Derby has six core stats. Understanding what each one does is the difference between guessing and strategy.

🚀 ACCELERATION
How quickly a pig reaches top speed out of the gates and after slow corners.
⚡ TOP SPEED
Maximum velocity on the straights.
💪 STAMINA
Endurance reserve. Drains across the two laps — low stamina pigs fade late.
🛡️ STRENGTH
Decides who wins ground in pig-vs-pig collisions and shoulder-barges.
🌀 CORNERING
Speed retention through turns. Track has multiple bends, so this matters every lap.
🧠 NERVE
Mental composure. Helps in photo finishes and resists stress from sponsors and weather.

Weather Changes Everything

The track is always the same shape — a circuit run for two laps — but the weather is rolled per race and reshapes the math entirely:

☀️ SUNNY
Hot & fast: speed up, but stamina drains quicker. Favors front-runners.
🌧️ RAINY
Muddy & heavy: better grip in turns, but acceleration is harder. Favors high-cornering and "Rain Lover" trait pigs.
⚡ STORMY
Electric: fast starts, but pigs get nervous. Low-nerve pigs choke.

Always check the weather icon before betting — a low-nerve pig in a storm is a coin flip, no matter how elite the rest of their stats.
